U.S. Pipe

Driving up and down the freeway, I am totally intrigued with the old U.S. Pipe building in Chattanooga. Recently, I finally followed through on a promise to myself to photograph it.

It was a lucky day for me. The building is totally fenced in under lock and key complete with “No Trespassing” signs. As I was (standing barefoot on my car)doing my best to photograph (over the fence) the side of the building I cannot see from the road and extremely disappointed that I could not get to the side which had lured me there, one of the owners of the property just happened to show up. He was gracious enough to allow me to go in with him and photograph the side which caught my attention in the beginning.

The owner told me the building was built in 1892 and was the Foundry Company. Then in 1899 U.S. Pipe bought the building.

Processing the photos I discovered that all sides of this seeming haunted place are equally beautiful with many different textures, colors and shapes.

I hope you enjoy my photos of the U.S. Pipe building.
